Whether you're ready or not, the digital switchover is here! On 28 May, 2013, the Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast areas had their analogue TV service switched off. If you have waited until now to update your system you probably don't have quality, if any television reception. Call us to take advantage of the huge range of channels available on digital TV.
At 7pm, on 16 September, 1956, Australia's first TV broadcast was made by TCN Channel 9 in Sydney, but viewers had to wait until 19 January, 1957 for regular broadcasting to officially commence. All broadcasting was delivered in black and white, in the simple 4:3 format that we still see today in analogue broadcasts, accompanied by mono sound. So much has changed since that first broadcast! Nowadays, more content is being made in digital format and to bring Australia in line with the rest of the world, the Australian Government has set up a Digital TV Network to enable digital media to be broadcast into our homes in digital. To date, the Australian Government has kept both networks running but has been slowly phasing out analogue, thus freeing up air space for digital to take over.
Digital TV is a new way of transmitting picture and sound signals digitally. Instead of a continuous stream of information, digital transmissions are delivered in short bursts. Whilst your existing TV Antenna may be adequate, you will definitely get better reception with a quality digital TV Antenna. You will also need to install a digital set top box to decode these new signals, if you haven't got a digital ready TV.
Digital TV Brisbane is simply a better way of broadcasting and receiving television signals. It offers superior picture and sound quality in widescreen. Digital television is broadcast in 16:9 format, meaning those with widescreen televisions can view programs using all their screen width. Widescreen televisions are roughly one third wider than normal 4:3 televisions.
