Currently in Australia, our television broadcasts are only delivered in digital signal. On 28 May, 2013, the Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast areas had their analogue TV service switched off. Hopeful you are already taking advantage of the wide range of channels available for free on digital TV. If not give us a call to update your TV Antenna or cabling.
You will need to ensure that you have a suitable digital TV Antenna that will receive digital signals and your TV is digital ready. If you have an older TV that's not digital ready, you will require a set top box. If you're not digital ready by the time the switchover is complete, you won't be able to watch TV! Until now, the Australian Government has kept both networks running but has been phasing out analogue to free up air space for digital to take over.
Many TV Antennas are already digital TV Antennas. Most that were made after the year 2000 have been specifically manufactured to receive both analogue and digital signals. Many existing TV Antennas receive digital transmission without a problem but in some cases, the equipment may need to be upgraded to receive a reliable signal.
AA Able Antenna Services have a fleet of vehicles covering the Brisbane region. Our technicians are all Australian Government Endorsed Installers who will come to your home, office or building to check your digital TV antenna. They will carry out the following:
If you currently use an indoor antenna or 'rabbit ears' for analogue, you may need to upgrade to an external digital antenna to receive signal. However, if you're in an area with high signal strength, an indoor antenna may be sufficient.
If you live in a unit, townhouse or apartment, you may have a shared antenna system. The upgrading of a shared antenna system is something that the body corporate or owners' corporation must agree upon, and this may take some time. It's best to raise the issue with your neighbours as soon as possible! If you live in a rental property, the upgrade to digital antennas should be discussed with your landlord or property manager. In most cases, if your rental property already has an antenna, it's the responsibility of the owner to ensure it's in good working order. This would include upgrading it to receive digital TV signals, if necessary.
